Do I need an appointment to consign?

Not at all. We accept consignments seven days a week.

What is the minimum number of items I can consign?

No minimum. You can bring in 50 items or one amazing piece—it’s up to you. We care more about quality than quantity!

What percentage of the sale do I get to keep?

We offer a 50/50 split for most brands

We offer 70% to our consignors for select items from the following designers:

  • Alexander McQueen

  • Balenciaga

  • Céline

  • Chanel

  • Chloé

  • Gucci

  • Lanvin

  • Louis Vuitton

  • Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane

  • Tom Ford

Eligible items: coats, cocktail attire, dresses, gowns, jackets, leather, purses, and sweaters. SHOES AND BASICS DO NOT QUALIFY. (Basics: pants, skirts, blouses and tees.)

Items that qualify for a 70% commission are in immaculate condition and are in the most demand by the public. They are of the moment and on trend—otherwise known as “It” pieces.

It is solely up to the management of Sell Your Sole to decide which pieces receive 70% commission.

How often do you pay? Do I have to pick up my check?

We pay every single month for any items sold the previous month. We cut checks on the first day of the month and send them directly to you. No need to schlep to the boutique to pick up your check!

How do I get my items ready to sell?

Our customers want the best, so any merchandise we receive must be in pristine condition. This means:

  • Freshly cleaned (stain- and odor-free).

  • Free from heavy wear or visible damage.

  • Pockets and purses empty (please remove all mints, receipts, lipsticks, loose change, etc.).

  • On hangers, in shoe boxes or dust bags if you have them.

  • Original tags and packaging, if possible. These always raise the value of your items.

  • For designer bags, try to find your receipts and other proofs of authenticity. Very few people can truly authenticate your bag, so your chances of selling it are much higher if you have proof that it is real.

If you don’t have time to get your items ready to sell, we will happily take them to the dry cleaner, tailor or cobbler for you, then deduct those expenses from your check.

How long is your consignment period? Do I get my unsold items back?

Our consignment period is three months long. You have three days after your consignment agreement expires to pick up your unsold items.

How do I know which of my items have sold and when?

[Download the Sell Your Sole app – link] to see your total inventory, which items are on the sales floor, which items have sold and what price each piece has sold for. At Sell Your Sole, we believe in TOTAL transparency for our consignors. Our app enables you to track your items 24/7.

What types of items are you looking for?

We are looking for current (1-5 years old), on-trend clothing, shoes and accessories from [high-end designers - link to ‘Labels We Love’] from luxury department stores and boutiques like Baby & Co., Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman, Horseshoe, Intermix, Mario’s, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks 5th Avenue, etc. For a complete list, please see our Labels We Love page.

Do you accept items seasonally?

Yes. We start accepting Fall items in August, Resort/Spring items in February and Summer items in May.

Are there any styles of clothing you don’t accept?

We do not accept business attire or wedding gowns.

What brands do you not accept?

We do not accept items from Escada, St. John, or mall brands like Ann Taylor, Eileen Fisher, JCrew, H&M, Banana Republic, etc.

The only two exceptions are:

  • Dresses and jeans from Anthropologie

  • Anything from All Saints Spitalfields

Should I be concerned that my clothes won’t sell quickly because you don’t have street visibility?

Actually, our “hidden” location is one of the things that makes our store remarkable. We’ve been featured in both Seattle Met magazine and Seattle Magazine many times, in “Best of” articles and "Hidden Treasure Seattle” articles. In fact, we were named "Best New shop of 2012" by Seattle Met the very first year we opened!

Hopefully we’ve answered all your questions about consigning your beautiful items with us. But if you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to call 206-443-2616 or email natalia@sellyoursoleconsignment.com for more information.
